Pink Washing the Middle East

15th June:  By now everyone is aware that Gay Girl in Damascus is really a straight white American male, Tom MacMasters.  The article on “Pink Washing”  has been removed because it was written by an imposter, a fraud who has caused great distress to many Syrian activists especially in the LGBTI community – who doesnt even have the decency to apologise for his actions.

Hi there, guess you haven’t heard the news that ‘Amina Abdallah’ is a fake, and that she’s the invention of a white, male ‘anti-Zionist’ called Tom MacMaster.

    How stupid do you feel?

Yes, I have heard the news and the latest report on Lez Gets Real who is also a fake lesbian – turns out to be yet another straight white American male. No I dont feel stupid. I feel betrayed and deceived but this is nothing to the damage he has made to Syrian LGBTI community and their struggle for freedom. I thought of taking down the post in disgust [however I stand by my comments] at his deception but decided to keep it so we remember the duplicity and arrogance of this despicable person.

“The US military is developing software that will let it secretly manipulate social media sites by using fake online personas to influence internet conversations and spread pro-American propaganda.
A Californian corporation has been awarded a contract with United States Central Command (Centcom), which oversees US armed operations in the Middle East and Central Asia, to develop what is described as an “online persona management service” that will allow one US serviceman or woman to control up to 10 separate identities based all over the world. The project has been likened by web experts to China’s attempts to control and restrict free speech on the internet. Critics are likely to complain that it will allow the US military to create a false consensus in online conversations, crowd out unwelcome opinions and smother commentaries or reports that do not correspond with its own objectives.”
