Chenjerai Hove

Exiled Zimbabwean writer Chenjerai Hove has been refused entry into Britain – the same British Government that is calling for African leaders to condemn Mugabe and his government.  The same British government that wants to see an end to Mugabe’s rule in Zimbabwe.  So why are they preventing one of Mugabe’s foremost critics from speaking out in Edinburgh?

Poet and writer Chenjerai Hove was to give a lecture last week at Edinburgh University’s Centre for African Studies. Hove has a history of criticising the country’s president, Robert Mugabe, and was due to talk about censorship in Zimbabwe and how it had forced him to flee the country

Hove who is due to speak at the Edinburgh International Book Festival in August but has now threatened to pull out.
